Dr. Ethan Bannar

Dr. Ethan Bannar is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with extensive experience serving military personnel, law enforcement officers, and first responders. A native of Baltimore, Maryland, he completed his undergraduate studies at James Madison University and earned his Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University Maryland in 2017. He went on to receive his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, specializing in military psychology, from the University of Denver’s Graduate School of Professional Psychology in 2021.

Throughout his graduate training, Dr. Bannar focused on the unique demands of high-stress professions. His practicum and research work centered on law enforcement and military populations, where he conducted psychological evaluations and provided treatment for a range of mental health challenges. During this time, he trained within a law enforcement psychology practice in Denver, conducting pre-employment psychological evaluations for police applicants in the metropolitan area.

In 2018, Dr. Bannar was awarded a competitive commission through the U.S. Air Force Health Professions Scholarship Program. He went on to complete his APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at the 59th Medical Wing, Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center, Lackland AFB, Texas. He defended his doctoral dissertation and earned his doctorate in 2021.

Following licensure, Dr. Bannar served as an Air Force psychologist, stationed at both Lackland AFB and Goodfellow AFB in Texas. He deployed to the Middle East as the sole psychologist for the Arabian Peninsula during Operation Spartan Shield and Operation Prosperity Guardian (Oct 2023 – May 2025). While deployed, he served as Director of Psychological Health for the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing and supported multiple geographically separated units engaged in peacekeeping and combat operations. He is particularly proud of his direct support to Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), Security Forces (SFS), and Naval Special Warfare units during critical missions following the invasion of Israel in 2023.

At Goodfellow AFB, Dr. Bannar served as a senior behavioral health provider for a community of more than 3,400 personnel. He supervised a multidisciplinary team of 10 behavioral health professionals, managed the installation’s Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment Program, and led mental health support for the Department of Defense’s premier signals intelligence and firefighter training pipelines. These experiences deepened his passion for supporting first responders and others working in high-demand, high-stakes environments.

Dr. Bannar is licensed to practice psychology in both Texas and Virginia.
